If you have issues with your backup connection to your VMware ESXi maschine try the following solution that worked for me:
All I did was add this line to the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file on the ESXi machine and restart the ssh service & it worked again
KexAlgorithms diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha256,diffie-hellman-group14-sha1,diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1
